This video applies to me as a pitcher, because in competition you are always worried about getting the right spin on the ball for the right pitch (ex. a fastball has certain spin, as does a riseball). A pitch without spin can often lead to a hit, especially if the ball ends up being right down the middle of the plate. When you get into good competition, often walking a batter is better than giving up a hit, because of how hits throw off the dynamic of a team if it gets through any gaps in defense.

Olympic Softball Team USA 2008
This picture includes 2 of the best softball pitchers of all time, Kat Osterman (top, 2nd from right) and Jennie Finch (top, first from left). They are both D1 college pitchers who had very successful careers, and moved onto the Olympic Team. Since softball has been booted off of the sports regimen for the Olympics, this was their last season in Olympic Softball.
